Paul Simon to play in Dunedin on Otago Rally weekend

Rally fans have another reason to head to April’s Rally of Otago, with news that American singer/songwriter, Paul Simon, will play in Dunedin on the Saturday night of the rally.

Simon, part of the 60s duo Simon and Garfunkel, and a 12-time Grammy
Award-winning writer of songs like Bridge over Troubled Water and The
Sound of Silence, will perform inside Dunedin's roofed Forsyth Barr
stadium on the evening of April 6.

An audience of 20,000 people
is expected for the concert, and with the rally cars well and truly in
Parc Ferme by the time the concert begins, those attending the rally can
enjoy both events over the weekend.

“Concert goers will be
filling the town, meaning more rally spectators, especially at the final
stage of Saturday, the down town super stage that starts at 3.20pm,”
rally spokesman, Roger Oakley, said.

“The announcement of the
concert means that accommodation in Dunedin will be in demand, so those
intending on coming to the rally should get their plans sorted quickly.

“The
rally has negotiated special rates at the Scenic Circle Southern Cross
Hotel (Rally HQ), with rooms started at $135 a night, plus GST.
Competitors can book directly with the hotel, by confirming they are
part of the rally.”

The Rally of Otago website also lists other accommodation options in Dunedin, which can be seen HERE .
