2021 Otago Rally route map

Planning for the 2021 Drivesouth Otago Rally Fest is well on track, with more details on the rally route being released.

Organisers of the April 16-18 event have unveiled the rally poster and event map, highlighting the 298km of special stages.

There will be 14 stages in the two-day rally, the longest being a 50km test behind Manuka Hill, while the rally also includes favourites such as Waipori Gorge and Kuri Bush.

A great selection of stages will be conducted in the Lawrence region, including Cockleshell Road, which is rapidly gaining popularity as a fast, smooth rollercoaster of a stage.

Most of the route is the same as what had been planned in 2020, although their has been an extension of the Siberia stage in the Berwick.

This test is now 39km in length, and is the only stage to be repeated.

Interest in the 2021 Otago Rally is again high, despite the impacts of COVID-19, which will likely mean that no international competitors will take part. The rally is determined to kick start the 2021 championship off in style, and a range of initiatives will be announced over the next period to counter this expected loss of international teams.

The Otago Rally is grateful for the support of Dunedin City Council Premier Event funding.
